ABOUT
Who am I?
the one behind it all
Hi, my name is Jack Rogers and I am 19 years old. I started making cakes because I loved how many possibilities there were. From giant food cakes to traditional birthday cakes, I was astounded. I never had a passion like most of my classmates had in lower and middle school and struggled to find one. One day, I came across a cake artist and thought why not try one of her recipes? From that point on I knew that's what I wanted my passion to be. Now I bake cakes about every week or so and love sharing my creations through social media. My dream is to one day have a T.V. show that combines all my interests with my cakes. An average cake for me takes about 4 hours up to 2 days depending on the size and general look of the cake. I will sometimes spend hours creating intricate fondant pieces. Cake is my life and I hope you enjoy each one I make as much as I enjoy making them!
My TED Talk
an insight into my struggles
My school has the amazing opportunity to enroll in a class known as TED-Ed. Through this class, students practice public speaking skills and talk about their personal experiences. While this class had only been offered to students in grades 10-12 at the time, the teacher had reached out to me over the summer asking if I would be interested in giving a talk about my cakes. I immediately was intrigued and signed up. A talk just about my passion was not a good enough idea and I felt like I needed to give a talk that showed how having a passion isn't all sunshine and rainbows. In my talk, I give insight into the positive and negative effect my passion has had on me. While times have been hard, I know that making cakes is what I want to do. No passion comes without failure and struggle and that is primarily what my talk is about. Click above to watch the full thing!
